Formerly the Senior Manager and Head of the Tax Advisory Services of Alas Oplas & Co., CPAs – correspondent firm of RSM International, Garry has had professional experience in the field of taxation for about seven (7) years now. Prior to joining RSM Philippines, he worked as Assistant Tax Manager with the Tax Division of Bernaldo Directo & Po Law Offices, a sister firm of RS Bernaldo & Associates – PKF Philippines based in Makati City. He handled a number of tax and advisory engagements on tax compliance studies, tax assessments, tax structures, corporate restructurings, dealings with various government agencies and instrumentalities for business and corporate requirements and processes relating to various industries.
A graduate of Bachelor Laws, he was formerly a full-time College Instructor at Asian Development Foundation College (ADFC) for three (3) school years handling accounting and taxation subjects, formerly a part-time professor of taxation and basic accounting at the Polytechnic of the Philippines – Taguig for more than four (4) years now where he advocate on developing the entrepreneurial minds of its BS Accountancy (BSA) and commerce students, and formerly a part-time faculty member at Mapua Institute of technology – Makati Campus for two (2) years.
He was likewise formerly the Assistant Vice-President, Professional Development of Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants – Cavite Chapter (PICPA Cavite) for fiscal years 2015-2017, and formerly the Chair, Taxation Committee of Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice for calendar year 2016.
With his active practice of profession and former involvement in the academe, Garry has also been a sought-after lecturer and guest speaker in various seminars and conferences about taxation and basic accounting in some seminar companies, professional organizations like PICPA and ACPAPP, and in some universities.
